As warmer weather starts to peek around the corner, lots of people start thinking about enjoying some well-deserved time outside. Of course, a big part of spending time outside means enjoying your surroundings. What better way to start spring than by freshening up your outdoor living area? Here are some ideas to get you started.
You could start out the season with a new patio set. Late winter is a great time to find a few deals on benches and other pieces of furniture. For early risers, a small table with a few chairs can make the perfect coffee time retreat. Hammocks and swings are also nice additions to any yard.
If a brand new set of furniture isn’t in your budget, spruce up what you have with a new coat of paint or a new set of outdoor cushions. Clear away the layer of winter dirt that may have covered your furniture with a good pressure wash.
A small pond or other water feature can add a new level of life to your outdoor living area. Create a simple pond feature with items such as old tires and bath tubs. You can also visit a home improvement store to find water features that are ready to install.
Not everyone can keep up a small pond, but most people can add just a birdbath. You can make one with an old bowl. Purchase a pedestal and just place the bowl on top. If there is an old tree stump in your yard, you can also use that as a pedestal.
Cooking & Entertaining
Get geared up for barbecue season with a new grill or outdoor kitchen. For more informal gatherings, a fire pit is the perfect place for you and your family to roast hot dogs or marshmallows. Create an outdoor dining area to encourage cookouts and outdoor dinner parties. Picnic tables can also be a great place to relax with a good book and a cup of iced tea. If you want a fire to be a focal point skip the table and opt for a few comfortable benches around the outdoor fireplace or fire pit.
Refreshing your outdoor living area is always a nice project for late winter and early spring. Once it’s finished you’ll be able to sit back and enjoy the warm weather in an environment you personalized to your tastes and style.
